The Huawei P40 Pro leak shows it’s a Galaxy S20 Ultra competitor

We are awaiting the launch of the Huawei P40 Pro on March 26th. While we still aren’t sure what Huawei’s future with Android looks like, the Chinese company isn’t backing down and will still compete with the best out there. A Korean website has accidentally listed the Huawei P40 Pro, revealing the important specs and confirming design rumours.

Huawei is still one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world, even after the political goings on between China and the US meant that Huawei couldn’t use Google’s Android operating system anymore. That being said, their long-term prospects may be reasonably diluted outside of China.

The P40 Pro listing on the site has been removed, but it showed that the P40 Pro will have a 6.7-inch OLED display with QHD+ (1440×3160) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 518ppi pixel density. It will also have a punch hole display cut-out housing dual front facing cameras.

In terms of the internals the new flagship will be powered by the Kirin 990 5G SoC paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. This will be paired with a 5,500mAh battery with support for 50W charging and 27W wireless charging.

The cameras will also be a major talking point about the new flagship. It will pack a 52MP main camera, a 40MP camera, a periscope lens, an 8MP camera, and a 3D time-of-flight lens. On the front sits a 32-megapixel selfie camera and another 3D time-of-flight lens.

You can’t look at the images of the Huawei P40 Pro without being reminded of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. The camera hump, sides of the device and overall profile is very reminiscent of Samsung’s latest elite flagship device. It isn’t quite as large but is definitely a direct competitor. We have no information about pricing as of yet, but expect it to be well above the $1,000 mark.
