Core Group has confirmed that Apple’s newly announced iPad will grace store shelves in South Africa as of this Saturday.
Apple’s iPad line continues to draw traction even amidst the global slowdown that’s befallen tablet sales, and the company recently proceeded to axe the ageing iPad Air 2 for a new tablet model in a suprise web reveal.
For consumers looking to pick up a new Apple-made tablet, there’s good news: Core Group has confirmed that Apple’s new tablet will be available on store shelves as of Saturday the 8th of April.

The new iPad is set to be the most affordable entry into Apple’s tablet range yet, with its baseline model undercutting the price of the extant Mini 4. Naturally, the device will be more affordable than the tablets the company sells as part of its Pro range.
Apple’s new iPad will naturally arrive in several variants. The standard 32GB W-Fi model will retail for R5999 ZAR, while the 128GB variant thereof will retail for R7999 ZAR.
The 32GB SIM/Wi-Fi variant will accordingly retail for R8299 ZAR, while the 128GB variant will ship for R9999 ZAR.
Rumours indicated that Apple would proceed to usher in a clean sweep of its tablet range within the first half of the year; it has been speculated that the company is preparing a tablet with an edge-to-edge display to serve as a tantalising vision of what the next iPhone could resemble.
It has yet to do so, however, and the company’s new iPad is the sole change to arrive to its tablet lineup beyond the axing of the Air 2 and Mini 3.
