Alcatel has launched the Flash; a new smartphone that arrives with four cameras – two on the rear, and two on the front-facing display.
Sometimes, you just gotta do what you’ve gotta do. We first caught inkling of that sentiment from Alcatel earlier this year when it released a smartphone that literally had LEDs on its back, and now the company has release a new device, the Flash, that arrives with four cameras.
Four cameras. Yes. Because reasons.

The Flash, ironically, isn’t the first Alcatel device to bear the name; first came the Alcatel Flash, a regular handset, which was then succeeded by the Flash 2. The new device, however, sports some intriguing tech to set it apart from its cameras.
Let’s deal with the obvious first: the device accomodates to 13-megapixel sensors designed by Sony with an f/2.0 aperture, in similar style to what Huawei has previously employed; one lens handles colour, while the other captures monochrome (black and white) detail.
The handset features an 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel front facing duo; together, the dual-camera arrays offer an iPhone-style Portrait Mode, as well as a Super Selfie mode. If that wasn’t enough, the device can export RAW images as well.
Another enticing feature is the presence of a 10-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor, in addition to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of memory. The device, which runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, sports a 5.5″ 1080p display and has a 3,100mAh battery.
There’s no word yet if the Flash will arrive on South African shores, and international availability is et to be confirmed. Further, no pricing information is available as of yet, although we’re quite certain that this isn’t a belated April Fool’s joke.
