Ahead of assuming office on January 20th of 2017, US President-Elect Donald Trump has reportedly traded in both his Twitter account and Android phone.
Mere minutes ahead of the official start of the inauguration of the United States’ 45th President, Donald Trump has apparently traded in both his Twitter account for Oval Office approved derivatives.
According to the New York Times, Trump has apparently traded in his personal Android smartphone – from which he usually issues tweets – for a “secure, encrypted device approved by the Secret Service with a new number that few people possess”

It is unclear as to what device the model in question is; the US Presidency and Senate began the process of moving away from BlackBerry last year, and previous US President Barack Obama made use of a modified Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone during his second term in office.
Obama’s official smartphone didn’t do much to warrant the ‘smart’ moniker; the 44th President’s device couldn’t make outgoing calls, take pictures, or send text messages. Further, Obama was unable to access regular Android apps, having only made use of apps previously approved by the Defense Information Systems Agency.
Of course, that device could access SIRPNet – the US military’s classified information network. It is alleged that Trump will be issued a smartphone with similar abilities.
While there’s no stopping Trump from using another device to tweet, the President-Elect has reportedly ceased using his personal Twitter account and will assume the @POTUS handle Barack Obama previously used.
