Twitter accidentally suspends its own CEO's account

Following a block on ‘alt-right’ users, Twitter has accidentally disabled the personal account of its own CEO, Jack Dorsey.

While Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg faces criticism over his approach to the news, Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey is instead making news – for all the wrong reasons.
Dorsey was the subject of his social network’s latest glitch – when the platform proceeded to block masses of users perceived to be ‘alt-right’, Dorsey’s account was also deactivated for several hours.

The news comes amidst the social platform’s campaign to ensure the safety of its users on the network; earlier this year, the social platform announced the formation of a new team that would specifically look to excise perpetrators of online harassment.

Dorsey’s account was deactivated alongside noted ‘alt-right’ figures on the US political spectrum one such individual is Richard Spencer who – as head of the ‘National Policy Institute’ campaigns on forums “dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States.”
Spencer described his removal from the network as “corporate Stalinism” – the social network’s public representatives cited the suspensions as having occurred for “privacy and security reasons.”
It’s unclear why Dorsey’s account was specifically disabled, though in a tweet issued shortly after regaining control of his account the CEO blamed the suspension on an ‘internal mistake’.

The gaffe joins another major social media meltdown earlier this month, wherein Facebook erroneously reported that several of its users – including its co-founder Mark Zuckerberg – had passed away.
