Apple confirmed at its September 7th event that the smash-hit title Pokemon Go would soon be available onboard the Apple Watch.
At its September 7th event, Apple wasted little time showing its interest in gaming – the Cupertino company invited the creator of everyone’s favourite Italian plumber – Mario – on stage to debut Super Mario Run. However, that wasn’t all – the company announced that Pokemon Go would soon be available on the Apple Watch.
As part of its wearable announcement – which saw the company unveil the Apple Watch Series 2 and an upgraded Series 1 – Apple invited John Hanke, the CEO of Niantic Labs, to debut the arrival of the title on board the Watch.

The event marks the first time that the title will launch on a wearable product. Pokemon Go launched in several locations around the world earlier this year on the strength of Android and iOS.
Now, watchOS will be getting in on the fun – the title, while adapted for the Apple Watch’s smaller screen, will show users how far to walk to hatch a Pokemon egg, and will display notifications as to which Pokemon, Pokestop, and Pokemon Gyms are nearby.
The game’s arrival on the Apple Watch essentially brings much of the heads-up notifications that Niantic’s own Pokemon Go Plus wearable would.
The Pokemon Go Plus wearable has been the subject of numerous delays, and was first scheduled to hit shelves in July this year. Latest reports indicate that the wearable will begin shipping on the 16th of September.
