Apple has announced the thinner Apple Watch Series 2; its first follow-up to its premier smartwatch device and second-ever wearable.
Apple has announced its first follow-up to the original Apple Watch in the form of the Apple Watch Series 2.
Featuring a design that you might not realize was different at first, the Apple Watch Series 2 arrives in a swim-proof form factor which is capable of ejecting water to ensure its internal components are not damaged.

Apple analyzed over 700 swimmers to ensure that its newest wearable was capable of rendering accurate caloric information. As a result, the Apple Watch 2 is capable of learning its user’s stroke efficiency and can calculate laps in a new Workout.
The Apple Watch Series 2 features a system-in-package with a dual-core CPU, and GPU that’s twice as fast. Apple claimed that the Series 2’s new hardware allowed developers to produce five times as much detail in their apps.
The new Apple Watch features a brighter display, set at 1000 nits, and further features built-in GPS for improved tracking. The model introduces not only new colours, but a new material in the form of ceramic.

Apple Watch Series 2 will ship with the latest version of watchOS, and is touted by Apple as the “ultimate device for a healthy life”. Apple have further partnered with Nike to annouce Apple Watch Nike +; a custom Apple Watch which features a bespoke band.
The Apple Watch Series 2 and Nike + edition will retail for $369 USD, while an upgraded Apple Watch 1 will retail for $269 USD. watchOS 3 will launch on the 13th of September, while the Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 will launch the following week.
