ASUS reveals the ZenWatch 3; a smartwatch with real fitness savvy

ASUS has revealed the ZenWatch 3; it’s new, circular Android Wear device that arrives with real fitness tracking savvy in rose gold, gunmetal, and silver.

Alongside the Gear S2, Huawei Watch and Moto 360, ASUS’ ZenWatch range has often topped our Android Wear list. That’s great, because now the company has released the ZenWatch 3; it’s latest smartwatch that brings a round display.
Arriving in rose gold, gunmetal, and silver (while all three options have a rose gold bezel), the ZenWatch 3 sports a 400×400 resolution with a pixel density of 287ppi.

The ZenWatch further comes equipped with fitness-savvy features, and aims to replace the Fitbit on your wrist. ASUS have claimed that its new smartwatch will include specific sports-tracking modes in addition to traditional step, sleep, and calorie counting modes.

In good news for those who live to be at the pool or the beach, the ZenWatch 3 is waterproof. That’s in addition to a Snapdragon 2100 Wear processor, which can be charged in a claimed 15 minutes up to 60%; if that’s not enough, you can further equip ASUS’ own battery pack to juice your ZenWatch on the go.
While we’ve yet to hear if the new ZenWatch will make its way to South Africa, the device will retail for an expected price of $200 USD.
Purchasers can expect variants with either leather or rubber straps, and the watch will come equipped with a multitude of different watch faces for those who like to tinker and customise.
Together with the reveal of the Gear S3, we’re left to feel that whatever form Apple’s next wearable takes, it’s going to have a fight on its hands.
