LG V20 leak reveals what could be another modular phone

A new LG V20 leak has prematurely outed the company’s next mobile phone, which could apparently introduce a modular design of its own.

When the LG G5 released earlier this year, we imagined that it would serve as the centerpiece of LG’s smartphone range thanks to its army of modular accessories. Now, a new LG V20 leak has revealed that the first phone to run Android 7.0 Nougat might be modular as well.
The LG V20 leak pictures a svelte back panel, with the G5’s dual camera module and a rear fingerprint sensor. Beneath that lies a familiar looking cutout, which could depict a slide-out battery similar to what the LG G5 uses to field its range of accessories, or ‘Friends’.

The V20 leak reportedly sizes the device at a rough measurement of 5.7″, without any mention of width. For the device to be compatible with LG’s extant Friends lineup, the device would need to carry the same berth as the LG G5.

The leak seemingly confirms that the V20 will retain its trademark second screen on its front panel. However, there’s no clarification on whether the device will support the same 360-degree camera trickery that its predecessor, the V10, did.
Interestingly, where the LG G5 ported its 3.5mm audio jack port to its top panel in order to accomodate its slide-out battery port, the LG V20 leak pictures the port intact on the bottom banel, adjacent to a USB Type-C port and a speaker grill.

What are your thoughts? Should LG pursue making the V20 a modular phone, or should its flagship, the LG G5, retain that selling point? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
