Prisma, a new AI-driven photo editing app which converts a photograph into 36 different art styles, has now launched on Android.
If you haven’t subscribed to Pokemon Go mania, you might have instead heard of Prisma – the app which is second only on the charts to Niantec Labs’ world-dominating game.
Prisma is a photo editing app designed to emulate the filter effects of Hipstamatic and Instagram, but takes the concept a step further. The app, instead of overlaying destructive filters above a photograph, actually decomposes and then rebuilds an image into one of 36 art styles.

While Instagram’s filters are instantaneous, Prisma’s require 5 seconds to load while the app decompiles and recompiles an image.
The end result is a picture which looks closer to a work of art than a point-and-shoot photograph. Take a look at one of our test images, in which we used the filter Wave, inspired by the famous artwork named The Great Wave off Kanagawa:
In Prisma, users are able to choose between one of 36 different artistic filters – from the style of Piet Mondrian to Roland Davies – to customise their images, and can adjust the intensity of the effect.
Prisma first launched on iOS several weeks ago, and until now the app hasn’t supported Android. Thankfully, a global rollout has begun on Google’s mobile operating system and soon users all around the world will be able to turn their favourite images into works of art.
The app supports direct sharing to both Facebook and Instagram, and users will be able to both share and download their masterpieces from within the app.
