Microsoft reportedly preps the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 for launch

Microsoft is reportedly readying two new entries to the Surface lineup in the form of the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2.

According to new reports, Microsoft plans to release a follow-up to the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book later this year in the form of the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 respectively.
The company is rumoured to further have plans to produce another, as-yet unnamed Surface-branded device before the end of the year, leaving many fans to predict the long-awaited arrival of a flagship Surface Phone.

Reports indicate that Microsoft is awaiting the launch of Intel’s seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors before revealing its new Surface devices.
Should Microsoft release the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 with Kaby Lake processors, both could benefit from a greatly improved processing speed – up to 25% faster than what we can currently expect from the Skylake-powered Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book.
Microsoft, however, is yet to officially confirm any of the reports circulating around its next Surface devices. Many vendors have begun to sell the Surface Pro 4 at a marked-down price, leading to speculation that the announcement of a new Microsoft-branded could come sooner than expected.

The Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 might be some of the first devices to benefit out-of-the-box from Microsoft’s Windows Ink features, which are set to arrive in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update on August 2nd.
Windows Ink will introduce several stylus-based features, including a dedicated jotter area of the operating system’s famous desktop.
