Just announce the Surface phone already Microsoft! New report suggests the arrival of the device in Q2 2017.
For what seems like years now (actually months) we have been reading about Microsoft‘s rumored plans for new Windows smartphone hardware, with talk of a device that would move Microsoft past the days of Lumia phones and into a new era, that of the Surface phone. It seems like a no-brainer to every techie out there but we have still to here anything remotely official from Redmond.

A new report however now claims that the Surface phone IS happening and will be released in Q2 2017. The report also mentions the possibility of multiple hardware variants. As the rumors state, Microsoft could be positioning the new line-up to debut alongside their next big platform update (currently being referred to as Redstone 2). This line-up could consist of as many as three Surface phone configurations, each positioned to enter different markets.

Although most information is still in the realm of rumors and guesswork we, and hopefully Microsoft, are seeing the demand for the Surface smartphone. Let’s hope we hear something concrete in the next couple of months and that Microsoft will shock the market with their flagship Surface smartphone
