Sony announces the Xperia Agent, its Echo competitor

Sony have revealed the Xperia Agent at MWC; a home-bound personal assistant device that directly competes with the Amazon Echo.

The Amazon Echo has a new competitor, and its called the Xperia Agent. The device, which was revealed as a concept, could herald Sony’s foray into homebrain technology.
Previously, Sony announced its new mid-range Xperia X series at MWC; the Xperia Agent is designed to complement mobile and desktop devices and can be controlled through either voice or gesture control.

The Agent will further be able to display content on blank surfaces within a home thanks to a built-in projector. Sadly, Sony’s homebrain isn’t ready for the market – though it is more than likely the company is merely testing the waters for an eventual product at MWC.
Should the Sony’s experimentation proceed, it’s feasible to imagine that future Sony phones might include their own digital assistant similar to Apple’s Siri or Microsoft’s Cortana.
The concept device will be supplemented by the Xperia Eye; a wearable device that can be worn around the neck as a minute camera device with a 360-degree field of view.
