After months of quiet progress, a new Sony Marshmallow concept has been revealed, indicating what the future UI of Xperia phones could look like.
2016 might be the year that Android smartphone manufacturers get their act together with software skin: Samsung has allegedly reached out to Google for help with TouchWiz, and now a new Sony Marshmallow concept has been unveiled for future Xperia phones.
The Sony Marshmallow concept is a result of the Japanese company returning to the drawing board and attempting to integrate its own design with the OS in a meaningful way.

Sony has, in recent years, doubled down on extra UI features, which is something we found evident in our Xperia Z5 Review.
New screenshots reveal a tweaked UI that subtly introduces Sony design elements to Android while keeping out of the way of the trajectory of the operating system.
The new UI resembles previous outings on Xperia devices, but opts for a cleaner look that approximates Motorola’s hands-off approach with Android.
The UI further integrates but a few Sony extensions, which include the Album, Music, and Camera apps.
