Microsoft’s Lumia 850 – internally codenamed as Honjo – has been revealed in new press images despite reports that the product had been cancelled.
While we may be able to expect the launch of a Surface Phone at some point in 2016, another Windows Phone is presently experiencing a similar development process; the Lumia 850, codenamed Honjo.
Named for the eponymous city in Japan, the Lumia 850, has previously been identified as a cancelled device that was in prototyping stages within Microsoft’s Devices division.
Evan Blass, the popular leaker behind the Twitter @Evleaks, posted two high-res images last night depicting the device from both the front and rear.
If the Lumia 850 isn’t cancelled as some suspect, rumours suggest that we may see the device sport a 5-inch AMOLED screen in 720p resolution, with a quad-core Snapdragon processor, 8 megapixel and 5 megapixel cameras, and 1GB of RAM.
The pictured white-gold ‘Honjo’ model is expected to be supplemented by a white rose gold model, as well as black models with copper and grey frames.
The Lumia 850 would presumably be positioned beneath the flagship Lumia 950 and 950 XL.
