Android Pay and Coca-Cola to partner with loyalty programme

Although there are many mobile payment solutions out there, none of them have become the norm or even the most competitive. Apple Pay may be closest to cracking the big time, but Android Pay wants to get customers more excited about using their service with the inclusion of a new loyalty programme to encourage spending behaviour on the platform.
Google exec Sridhar Ramaswamy has talked about forthcoming loyalty programs which could sweeten the deal for prospective users, with one of the planned partnerships with Coca-Cola. Google will track Coke-family purchases made through NFC equipped machines and the user will accrue loyalty points that could later be redeemed for free or discounted beverages.
No concrete details have been shared on how exactly this will work, but Google will be trying to make the proposition as attractive as possible to lure people away from other contactless mobile payment systems.
Unfortunately we have no details on which other companies or retailers might be part of such loyalty programmes.
If NFC payment technology became easier to come by in SA, would you consider using it with your smartphone and a mobile payment solution such as Android Pay? Let us know in the comments below.
