LG G4 confirmed to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade

LG has confirmed that their present flagship smartphone, the G4, will be the first non-Nexus device to receive an over-the-air Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade.
The news follows last year’s trend, where Android 5.0 Lollipop was made available on the G3 shortly after release.
It is likely that LG has, alongside Huawei, benefitted from producing Google’s Nexus 5X which runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
“œBy working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the G4 ahead of any of our competitors,“ said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow only saw a general release last week, with over-the-air updates yet to reach some older Nexus devices.
LG has confirmed that the Android 6.0 update will release next week in Poland, and following that will spread to other territories. It is presently unknown whether the company intends to release a Marshmallow update for the G4’s sibling device, the G4 Beat.
