Up until now, dual-booting operating systems has traditionally been a feat reserved for certain tablets alongside more powerful netbooks and desktop systems. Chinese company Elephone have decided to buck this trend with the release of the ‘Vowney’, a flagship contender that is able to dual-boot Windows 10 Mobile alongside Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The Vowney will arrive in two flavours; one version, powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6795 SoC will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. The second, powered by a quad-core Intel processor will be able to dual boot Windows 10 Mobile or Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The differences between each model continues further; the Android version will carry a 20.7 megapixel camera and feature a sizey 3,800mAh battery, while the dual-boot version will sport a 20 megapixel camera and a larger 4,200mAh battery.
Beyond this, both Vowney models will carry a 5.5-inch display, with a QHD display, and will come equipped with 3GBs of RAM on board alongside 64 GB of internal storage. Additionally, both models will feature a rear fingerprint scanner.
The dual-boot Vowney is expected to be available from the 10th of October, with the Android version released on the 30th of September. Indications so far point to the dual-boot version being priced at approximately $300 USD.
