Is this not one of the most cumbersome names you have ever come across? Alongside all the other devices Sony brought to Berlin‘s IFA 2015 last week, rumour has it the Xperia Z5 family might get another addition in the form of a Snapdragon 820-powered Ultra model next year.
But first, the Japanese device manufacturer should once again spoil its domestic fans by exclusively giving them the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium. Yes, really. Confusing name aside, this beefed-up 4.6-incher will no doubt make power users who like their handhelds easy to handle drool all over the place, which is why it‘s sad to hear an eventual Western launch is a long shot.
Even in the “œLand of the Rising Sun“, the Z5 Compact Premium may roll out in limited quantities, branded as a Hatsune Miku edition for anime buffs. While the “œinternational“, non-Premium variant successfully walks the thin line between mid and high-end, with a 720p screen, 2GB RAM, and 2,700 mAh battery, the Japan-only configuration is expected to go full-on high-end, courtesy of upgrades to 1,080p resolution, 4GB memory, and 2,900 mAh juice.
Other specification bumps are virtually impossible, and the gossiped RAM count is actually superior to that of the Xperia Z5 Premium, which sounds crazy, to be frank. But the Japanese smartphone market has always been known for its eccentricity, so look out for an imminent NTT DoCoMo announcement of something small on size yet huge on power soon.
