In what has been major developments for most social networking apps, Twitter has dropped the limitation of their Direct Messages of only being able to be 140 characters long. This is undoubtedly a move to make the DM‘s a fully-fledged messaging service, able to contend with the likes of Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
The limit has been lifted for Direct Messages in the iOS, Android, Mac apps, Tweetdeck and on Twitter.com. The new limit is a much more usable 10,000 characters.
This follows the previous development of their Direct Messages functionality which saw it support groups DM‘s earlier this year.
