In what’s quickly becoming another day at the office for Sony, new Xperia Z4 images have been leaked. The images in question reveal the forthcoming smartphone’s frame and home screen.
Judging from the images, the Xperia Z4 continues the design legacy from the prior Z3, and collates with the Xperia Z4 tablet’s design language.
The Z4 appears to possess a roughly 5.2″ form factor, which appears to be either exactly or roughly the same as the prior 5.2″ Z3 in hand. The Z4 continues Sony’s OmniBalance design language, and features on the right hand side panel an on/off switch, which appears slightly off-centre. Underneath the on/off switch is a volume rocker, and below, a dedicated camera button.
On the top left hand side panel rests a lone port – and likely a nano SIM slot – which has a plastic covering likely to satisfy an IP68 dust and water-proof certification. On the bottom of the phone rests a standard Micro-USB port.
The alleged Z4 pictures shares the Z3’s position for its notification LED, and on the back is clearly adorned with the NFC and Xperia logos – just in case you forget what phone you’re using.
Of interest from the home screen, Sony has replaced Lollipop’s circular home icon in the navigation bar to a house icon – an interesting move, considering as many Android users have likened the new navigational motifs to Sony’s PlayStation controller icons.
Concurrent rumours report that the upcoming Z4 will bear a Snapdragon 810 CPU, with 4GB of RAM, and 20.7mp primary and 5mp front-facing cameras. It is also speculated that the Z4 will arrive in two different configurations – one with a Quad HD display, and one with a 1080p display.
