Microsoft PC partners approve of new CEO

New CEOs are appointed for an array of different reasons and people always ask certain questions when it happens. When a company is struggling and the board hires a new CEO, people ask “œWill he/she be able to right the ship.“ When the company is doing well, people ask “œWill he/she be able to maintain the momentum,“ and when the company‘s performance is somewhere in between, people ask “œWill he/she maintain the good stuff and better the broken stuff.“
The last is probably an example of where Microsoft is at the moment. Their Windows OS is still going well, but the Xbox is being beaten by the PS4 and their mobile platform is not performing at all. That being said, people often forget to ask what business partners of the company in question feel about the new appointee.
It appears Microsoft‘s PC partners are confident that Satya Nadella will lead to change for the better. Yang Yuanqing, Lenovo of CEO had the following to say:
“We have a long-standing, deep relationship with Microsoft, and are grateful to Steve for his partnership over the years. At the same time, we have tremendous confidence in Satya’s expertise, experience and leadership. Lenovo looks forward to many more productive, innovative and exciting years working with Microsoft to deliver outstanding products to our customers.”
Michael Dell, CEO of Dell, is similarly unrestrained in his approval of the new man in charge, describing him as an “outstanding choice.” As much change as Nadella may or may not bring to the software giant, Microsoft’s future path is now much easier to forecast with Ballmer’s successor in place. He went on to say:
“We are pleased that Microsoft has concluded its CEO search by naming Satya Nadella as Steve Ballmer’s successor. We know Satya well. His strong combination of engineering innovation and business acumen make him an outstanding choice to lead Microsoft into the future, and we look forward to working with him in his new role.”
As mentioned, they are struggling a bit more in the mobile space. It will be interesting to find out how the Windows Phone OS partners feel, which we will keep an eye on. It is definitely the biggest hurdle the new CEO is facing over the next couple of years.
We are excited to see where Microsoft go in the near future. What are your thoughts?
