Apple's 'iOS in the Car' screenshots leaked

While 2014 seems to be the year of wearable tech, another form of integrated technology is slowly but surely making waves in the industry.
“˜Smart cars‘ – and no, we don‘t mean the little matchbox-sized cars. The integration of smart technology into cars, has recently been elevated quite a bit with the backing of big name companies like Apple and Google.
We have reported on the newly formed Open Automotive Alliance – a world wide alliance that will help bring together tech and auto industry leaders. And, of course, this initiative is being spearheaded by Google.
While Google‘s main focus would obviously be to bring Android platforms to cars, Apple has their own idea up their sleeve.
“˜iOS in the Car‘ is Apple‘s latest adventure which aims to (as the name states) integrate iOS in your car.
First announced in October 2013, Apple hasn‘t been too vocal about their latest project, although it is common knowledge that is in development.
Yesterday, app developer Steven Troughton-Smith posted leaked images of the “˜iOS in the Car‘ interface on his Twitter account. While it is still unclear how the screenshots were produced, the images are quite different from original images that Apple posted.
The images show a very simplistic, iOS 7 inspired Maps design. Also seen in the images is what looks to be a warning screen – as is with many GPS software – a home screen and a bookmarks option.
The idea, it seems, is to have an iOS style interface on the car‘s touch screen dash. Drivers will be able to make phone calls, control their music and, of course, access Maps through the iOS system. Not to mention the many other add on‘s that Apple will no doubt roll out.
The iOS 7 website lists the “˜iOS in the Car‘ project as “˜coming soon‘ – however, no fficial date for its release has been set. It is thought that the project, which is now in it‘s beta 4 stage, may have been bundled with iOS 7.1.
