Battery life ““ or the lack thereof ““ was probably our biggest announce with smartphones of 2013. Huawei feel they are solving the problem, and this year they are taking it even farther. They are doing well in Asia, but as many others in that part of the world they want to expand in a big way to Europe and the US.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is their latest flagship offering and is of course the successor to the Ascend Mate ““ last year‘s colossal phablet. The Ascend Mate 2 has a massive 4050mAh battery and Huawei says it is good for more than 2 days of heavy use. Not only that, but they believe it can be used as a battery pack if you are willing to charge it every day ““ enough power to charge your iPhone with.
CEO Richard Yu revealed on stage at CES 2014 that the 6.1-inch 720p device also features 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD expansion of up to 32GB, plus a pair of cameras — 5 megapixels f/2.4 on the front and 13 megapixels, f/2.0 on the back.
