Have you ever wanted to test a Web Store app on Chrome without needing to install it? Mountain View is experimenting with support for “ephemeral” apps that launch like regular Web Store titles, but don’t leave a footprint in Chrome or Chrome OS.
According to the preliminary report, users won‘t even need to go to the app store. A recent Chromium build lets surfers launch an app directly from a Google search result page. It is still completely in initial build phase, but it would be an interesting addition to the commercial browser, meaning that it wouldn‘t imprint the permanent bookmark until you actually buy the application.
