Music and Twitter lovers unite – you definitely wouldn‘t want to miss out on this one.
On Thursday, Twitter announced the release of their very own, all new Spotify app.
Spotify, the music streaming website that has been making waves worldwide, has proven their knack for innovation and forward thinking yet again, by linking with Twitter and Twitter #music.
Twitter #music, of course, uses Twitter activity to detect and surface the most popular tracks and emerging artists #nowplaying on the Twittersphere.
The Twitter #music interface can be used within the Spotify desktop app, and plays the music for free.
And, there are no more disappointed music lovers who only get to hear a snippet of the song; with the Spotify app, you can listen to the entire song – from start to finish. You wont have the blues anymore because of silly 30 or 90 second samples.
In addition to giving you full tracks, the app also speeds up the process of making playlists and listening to songs.
The app, which is sure to have both music lovers and artists buzzing about it soon, features five “˜charts‘ of music that people are talking about, and also offers radio-style genres.
These charts include: Superstars; new music from the music industry‘s superstars, Popular; music that is currently trending on Twitter, Emerging; the best up-and-comers, Unearthed; this is so-called “˜hidden talent‘, found in the tweets and Hunted; these are popular songs posted on various blogs.
All Spotify members can find and listen to songs. This also extends to members who have free Spotify subscriptions.
The union between Twitter and Spotify truly sounds like a match made in musical heaven. But, because Spotify is still not available in South Africa, us music-loving Saffa‘s won‘t be able to enjoy it just yet – #uncool.
