Facebook looking to introduce hashtag

According to The Wall Street Journal, Facebook is currently looking into incorporating the hashtag, one of Twitter’s most iconic features.
The hashtag, based on information from sources close to the matter, will serve to group conversations and topics on the social network. However it is unknown when it will be introduced, if it even exists.
On Twitter, users can easily find tweets around a particular topic or person by searching for its hashtag as messages are grouped together. This news suggests Facebook’s continuing move into Twitter territory in competition for users and advertising revenue in the mobile space.
Facebook has already incorporated the @symbol, popularised by Twitter, to tag celebrities and brands as well as created “subscriber” lists for users.
Instagram, acquired by Facebook last year,  already uses hashtags to let users sort photos.
