As we all expected, not long after the launch of the Nexus 7, Google announced that a 10-inch Nexus tablet is also on its way. The Nexus 7, built by ASUS, is already a huge success, as it packs a lot of punch for a low-priced tablet, coming in at $199. But Google have bigger plans up their sleeves.
It has been reported that Samsung have the honour of making the next Nexus tablet variant from Google. In my eyes, that’s a brilliant prospect. Samsung have already produced two brilliant Nexus smartphones, the Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus. With their tablets not having the same impact on the market as their smartphones, this can only be good for Samsung.
This can also be good for the consumer, because we know Samsung makes some brilliant internals. The 10-inch tablet will be fitted with a next generation Exynos 5 Cortex A15 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a new generation of screen from Samsung, coming in at a 2560 x 1600 resolution. If they are able to price this device as aggressively as they did the Nexus 7, the Nexus 10 can be as big of a winner.
The device was supposed to be ready for the Christmas shopping season, but there are some delays in production, most likely from the processor, according to sources. It should now become available some time in Q1 2013.
