Samsung has recently announced the release of the Galaxy Player, a media player, based on its Galaxy S3 smartphone, that is powered by Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich.
The news was officially announced on Samsung’s Korean-language blog Samsung Tomorrow.
In addition to its 5.8 inch screen, other features of the Player include:
- Samsung’s WhizTouch interface
- 2,500 mAh capacity battery
- Front facing VGA camera
- Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity
Samsung is emphasising the Player’s rich educational content specifically designed to benefit students containing content from its ‘Learning Hub’ that include features such as a dictionary, lecture software as well as a number of “œInternet-rich educational content services.“
According to The Next Web “Sound is played back using Samsung‘s “˜Sound Alive‘ acoustic technology through stereo speakers. The company says that video, TV and otherwise multimedia content will be optimised for the generous screen thanks to mDNIe (mobile digital nature engine) technology.”
While the price and launch date are yet to be revealed, Samsung is planing to heavily promote the device from September.
