Lego Skylines announced at Gamescom with Cities: Skylines II developer

Paradox Interactive has officially unveiled Lego Skylines during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, bringing a brick-building aesthetic to the city-management genre. Developed by Iceflake Studios, the title is slated for release on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, though an official launch window has not yet been announced.

The project marks a major milestone for Iceflake Studios, the development team currently handling Cities: Skylines II. Publisher Paradox Interactive reassigned development duties from original franchise creator Colossal Order to Iceflake following a contentious sequel launch that sparked significant community backlash. Paradox will publish Lego Skylines, signalling a broader reboot strategy for the city-building brand under Iceflake’s management.

The announcement trailer showcases a vibrant, block-based art style paired with traditional city-builder mechanics. Players will balance civic priorities and infrastructure needs—ranging from plotting out residential zones to funding emergency services like fire brigades. The spin-off aims to combine the open-ended creativity of Lego construction with the deep simulation systems established by the core franchise.
