Launched in South Africa in mid-December 2024 at a recommended retail price of R19,499, the PS5 Pro offers enhanced performance with faster frame rates and higher resolutions. It also boasts improved ray tracing and AI-powered upscaling technology.
“PS5 Pro has been positively received in the market with sales meeting expectations at launch considering we had supply constraints,” Gamefinity stated.
While the PS5 Pro remains a niche product targeting hardcore gamers, its initial sales are promising. Gamefinity emphasized that the majority of the initial stock sold quickly, with limited units remaining in retail channels.
“In terms of sales in December, the bulk of the input sold through, with only small pockets of stock in certain retail channels across the market,” the distributor noted.
The PS5 Pro’s launch in South Africa was delayed due to regulatory import clearance requirements. Despite this delay, the console has generated significant interest among local gamers.
