In the US, the monthly price for Premium Plus is rising from $16 to $22, or from $168 to $229 for annual subscriptions. Similar increases are implemented across Europe, with monthly prices in France, Germany, and Spain increasing from €16 to €21. Canadian subscribers will see their monthly fee rise from $20 to $26, while Australian users will pay $35 instead of $26. In the UK, the monthly cost is increasing from £16 to £17.
Existing subscribers will be grandfathered into their current rates until January 20th. However, new subscribers will immediately be subject to the higher pricing. X’s basic subscription tier remains unaffected by these changes.
This marks the most substantial price increase for US subscribers since Elon Musk acquired the platform in 2022. X justifies the hike by highlighting the recent removal of ads from Premium Plus, which it considers a “significant enhancement” to the user experience.
Furthermore, X points to the October revisions to its revenue-sharing program. The company states that subscriptions now “more directly fuel” creator payouts, prioritizing content quality and engagement over ad views.
Premium Plus subscribers will continue to enjoy benefits such as priority user support, access to features like the Radar trend monitoring tool, and increased limits on X’s Grok AI models.
