Dbrand’s recently announced “Killswitch 2” case provides crucial clues. The product page showcases a 3D render of the case, revealing a device larger than the Switch and Switch OLED. Notably, the right Joy-Con features a mysterious second button beneath the Home button.
Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz confirmed that the case design is based on “actual dimensions” obtained from a “3D scan of the real hardware.” According to Ijaz, the Switch 2 will measure approximately 270mm wide, 116mm tall, and 14mm thick, significantly larger than the Switch OLED.
The case design also suggests several key features:
- Magnetic Joy-Con Attachment: Joy-Cons are likely magnetically attached and feature an ejection button on the back.
- Enhanced Kickstand: The kickstand will be larger, measuring around half the console’s height.
- Larger Screen: A diagonal measurement of the cover glass supports previous rumours of an 8-inch screen.
- Second Button: The purpose of the additional button on the right Joy-Con remains unclear.
- Improved Tabletop Mode: A second USB-C port on the top of the console will enable charging while in tabletop mode.
While Dbrand’s information provides valuable insights, the company remains uncertain about the console’s release date and specific technical details, such as the screen type (LCD or OLED).
These leaks align with a similar mock-up revealed by SwitchUp, corroborating the larger size, new button placement, and improved kickstand.
While Nintendo has yet to officially announce the Switch 2, the company has confirmed that it will be compatible with current Switch games and will support Nintendo Switch Online.
