At Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Ring, a finger-worn wearable that enhances its ecosystem of health-tracking devices. Although previously teased, today marks the first day it is available for pre-order. This launch aims to compete with established products like the Oura Ring, offering advanced health insights to help users better manage their well-being.

Samsung claims it has integrated its sophisticated sensor technology into the compact space of a ring. The Galaxy Ring includes an accelerometer, PPG/heart rate sensor, and skin temperature sensor, all of which feed data into Samsung Health to create a comprehensive health profile. The app will provide metrics such as sleep scores, movement during sleep, heart and respiratory rates, and menstrual cycle tracking. Additionally, an Energy Score will assess your daily well-being and suggest improvements.
The ring also features Heart Rate Alerts to notify you if your heart rate becomes too slow or too fast, potentially preventing health issues. Standard features like automatic workout detection and inactivity alerts are included, and the ring can function as a remote shutter trigger for Galaxy-branded smartphones.
While a smart ring has inherent limitations due to its size, it still offers valuable insights for those already invested in Samsung’s ecosystem. The Galaxy Ring is crafted from titanium and is water-resistant up to 100 meters, with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Depending on the ring size, it weighs between 2.3 and 3 grams and offers up to seven days of battery life on a single charge.
Available in Titanium Black, Silver, and Gold, the Galaxy Ring is priced at $400. Pre-orders in the US start on July 10, with general availability beginning on July 24.
