Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagship phone, the 14 Ultra, ahead of MWC, featuring the renowned Sony LYT-900 1-inch mobile camera sensor, marking a significant leap forward in mobile photography technology. Building on the success of its predecessors, the 12S Ultra and 13 Ultra, the 14 Ultra boasts an impressive f/1.63 variable aperture, promising exceptional low-light performance and superior image quality.

The device retains the four Summilux rear cameras, powered by Sony IMX858 sensors, albeit with a faster f/2.5 aperture on the periscope shooter. However, the standout feature is the introduction of the Xiaomi AISP neural chip, touted as the world’s first AI large-model computational platform for photography. This innovative technology harnesses the power of four large models to optimize results, particularly in digital zoom up to 30x.
In addition to its advanced camera capabilities, the 14 Ultra offers remarkable improvements in battery life, durability, and connectivity. Utilizing silicon carbon cell technology, Xiaomi has managed to pack a 5,300mAh battery into a compact space, delivering 17% more stamina compared to its predecessor. The device supports rapid charging, with 90W wired and 80W wireless options, providing 50% charge in just 12.5 and 20 minutes, respectively.
Embracing the “Year of the Dragon” theme, the 14 Ultra features a robust “Dragon Armor” structure, boasting double the bending resistance thanks to its special “6M42” aluminum alloy mid-frame. This durable construction, combined with “Dragon Crystal” glass and certified vegan leather material, ensures superior protection against drops, wear, and UV damage.
Under the hood, the 14 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, running on Xiaomi’s Android-based HyperOS. The device is cooled by a dual-loop vapor chamber, maintaining optimal performance even during intensive tasks. Furthermore, Xiaomi’s Surge T1 chip enhances cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, providing seamless communication capabilities.
The 14 Ultra introduces advanced satellite features, offering faster locking and connection speeds, as well as two-way satellite calling and texting. Additionally, users can send location data and vital signs from compatible wearables in case of emergencies.
The device is available for pre-order in China, with pricing starting from 6,499 yuan ($900) for the base configuration and going up to 7,799 yuan ($1,080) for the top-tier model. The optional photography kit includes a shutter button grip and customizable jog dial, enhancing the user experience for photography enthusiasts.
