HONOR has unveiled the global release of its upcoming Magic V2 foldable flagship smartphone, promising substantial improvements over its predecessor, the HONOR Magic Vs. The Magic V2 is exceptionally thin and lightweight, featuring the high-performance Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a crease-less primary display, rapid charging capabilities, and an impressive camera setup.

To power a flagship foldable device, HONOR equips the Magic V2 with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, accompanied by 16GB of RAM and storage options of up to 1TB. This device offers extensive connectivity, supporting 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and even an IR port for controlling various appliances and TVs. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded within the power button, ensuring quick device access. The smartphone runs on MagicOS 7.2, based on Android 13.
In terms of design, the Magic V2 bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor, but it boasts substantial improvements. It’s notably thinner and lighter, shedding 30 grams while offering a more premium feel. HONOR has made impressive strides in construction, incorporating a 91% metal build comprising crossover aviation craft aluminium. The device has undergone rigorous testing for durability, enduring 400,000 folds, equivalent to a minimum of four years of use. Unfolded, the phone measures 156.7 x 145.4 x 4.7 mm, and when folded, it’s 156.7 x 74.1 x 9.9 mm in size.
For the first time, HONOR introduces interaction hover modes, allowing users to partially fold the device for additional features during camera use, video playback, music listening, or video conferencing.
The Magic V2 boasts a spacious and user-friendly 6.43-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering a peak brightness of 2500 nits and a resolution of 1060 x 2376 with 402 PPI. The cover screen includes a cutout for the front-facing camera and supports HDR10+.
Upon unfolding, users are greeted with a larger 7.92-inch LTPO OLED primary display. This display features a 120Hz refresh rate (up from 90Hz on the Magic Vs) and delivers a peak brightness of 1600 nits. It supports HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced, providing an excellent media consumption and gaming experience. Notably, the display features a nearly imperceptible crease, marking the first crease-less foldable screen.
HONOR has also enhanced the camera system, equipping the Magic V2 with a triple camera setup on the rear: a 50MP primary camera, another 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide camera, and a 20MP f/2.4 telephoto sensor capable of 2.5x optical zoom with OIS. The front-facing camera features a 16MP f/2.2 sensor. HONOR promises improved low-light photography and enhanced image quality across various lighting conditions. The Magic V2 inherits flagship-level features from the Magic 5 Pro series, including the Falcon algorithm and AI motion sensing capture mode for impressive high-speed photography.
The device maintains the impressive 5,000 mAh battery from the Magic Vs, supporting 66W wired fast charging. HONOR utilizes a thin 2.72mm silicon battery – slightly thicker than a credit card. Although the Magic V2 lacks wireless charging, it compensates with rapid wired charging capabilities, and the adapter is included in the package.
While the Magic V2 retains its predecessor’s absence of wireless charging, it offers remarkable charging speed with the provided adapter, outperforming many competitors in the market.
