The modern foldable flip phone was industry was launched by Motorola back in 2019 with the new Razr. The market is undoubtedly spearheaded by Samsung now, in the form of the latest Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Moto Razr+ is the highlight of Motorola’s latest foldables, priced at $1000, equivalent to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. It boasts impressive hardware and features a 3.6-inch pOLED display on the outside, covering the entire front with its square 1:1 aspect ratio. The screen refreshes at 144Hz and reaches a peak brightness of 1,100 nits, ensuring a satisfying visual experience. Additionally, the display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.
Unfolding the device reveals a massive 6.9-inch pOLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2640 x 1080. This display supports a 165Hz refresh rate, reaching a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. It utilizes LTPO technology and covers 120% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, delivering vibrant and immersive visuals.
Internally, Motorola has opted for cost-effectiveness by equipping the device with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device is powered by a 3,800 mAh battery with support for 30W wired fast charging and 5W wireless charging.
Despite being an older flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 remains capable and affordable, as evidenced by its appearance on most flagships in the previous smartphone cycle. Motorola’s decision to use this processor allows the device to maintain competitiveness in terms of pricing.
For mobile photographers, the camera hardware appears promising, although the final judgment will depend on the release software. The primary rear cameras consist of a 12-megapixel wide lens with an f/1.5 aperture and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera, located on the inner display, features a 32-megapixel unit with an f/2.4 aperture.
