Twitter now allows Blue subscribers to upload two-hour videos

Twitter has enhanced the benefits for its Blue subscribers, now allowing them to upload videos of up to two hours in length and 8GB in size. This update doubles the previous time limit and quadruples the file size allowance, while maintaining a video quality cap of 1080p.

Previously, the ability to upload long videos was limited to Twitter.com. However, Blue subscribers on iOS can now also upload lengthy videos, expanding the support for this feature. Android users, however, still need to access the web platform to upload longer videos.

While users can upload videos in 1080p resolution, Twitter states that it may need to adapt or modify the original video for distribution, syndication, publication, or broadcasting, including adjusting the resolution and bitrate based on the viewer’s internet connection.

Twitter introduced its Blue subscription in December 2022, but it was only made available to South Africans in March 2023. The subscription costs R145 per month for web users and R200 per month for iOS or Android users. Annual subscriptions are also offered at R1,519 for web users and R2,099 for Android and iOS users.

Apart from the extended video upload limit, Twitter Blue provides various benefits, such as blue verification checkmarks, an increased character limit for posts, and the Edit Tweet feature. Other notable features include bookmark folders, custom app icons, NFT profile pictures, themes, custom navigation, the Spaces tab, Top Articles, changeable text sizes with the Reader feature, Undo Tweet, prioritized ranking in conversations, half ads, and SMS two-factor authentication.
