For many years, Lenovo has been using its ThinkBook line of laptops to show off some of its more unconventional ideas and concepts. This year at CES 2023 is no different – Lenovo has revealed the ThinkBook Plus Twist, a laptop with a swivelling hinge that can turn to show the main display or an e-ink screen embedded in the lid.

It is easy to turn and flip the display with one hand, exchanging the 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED and the front-lit 12-inch e-ink panel on the top cover. This e-ink display is a colour display as well that is able to hit a refresh rate of 12 frames per second, very impressive for this type of display.
With this capability, the ThinkBook Plus Twist can show the Windows interface on either side, and the system will switch screens whenever you twist it. Both panels support pen input, too, so you can take notes with ease.
Other than the novelty of it, the technology itself is truly impressive. One does have concern for the durability of the design, though, as both display’s connections to the motherboard sits in this swivelling hinge. It will presumably get a lot of use, and as we all know, electronic parts don’t like to be twisted and bent all that much. Not only that, you will also be gripping pretty firmly on the camera module while applying a not-minimal amount of force to turn the display around.
Other key features on the ThinkBook Twist include support for Dolby Atmos simulated surround sound, a set of dual-array microphones, a full HD webcam with a privacy shutter, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Set to begin selling in June, the ThinkBook Plus Twist will cost $1,649 to start at launch, although we have no confirmation of a South African launch.
