A trailer for the long-awaited move adaptation of Super Mario Bros. has finally been released, showing the Mushroom Kingdom in a lot of trouble. The trailer shows Bowser (played by Jack Black) terrorizing a penguin kingdom in his quest for an invincibility star. Of course, we know who is coming to the rescue – Mario (played by Chris Pratt) drops into the Mushroom Kingdom with his brother Luigi (played by Charlie Day), and will cross paths with Princess Peach (played by Anya Taylor-Joy).
Some other big names include Keegan-Michael Key as Toad and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.
There was a live-action film, of the same name, back in 1993 that is widely viewed as one of the worst gaming adaptations in film history. It is clear that Nintendo isn’t taking any chances of a repeat here, and has played it safe with family-friendly CGI animation and a straight-forward plotline.
