Sometimes a WhatsApp group becomes too much effort to participate in, or perhaps irrelevant. When you currently leave a group on WhatsApp, the entire group can see that you have left in the chat. For some, this might have been a problem in the past. According to reports, WhatsApp is working on an upcoming feature that could prevent awkward confrontations by letting you exit groups without posting a notification everybody could see.

The only people that will receive notification of you leaving the group are the admins of the group. All other participants won’t realise you have left the group unless they look for you specifically. Meta is also working on experimenting with Communities, which people can use to combine separate group chats “under one umbrella with a structure that works for them.”
In an attained screenshot of WhatsApp beta on desktop it shows an exit message that says: “Only you and group admins will be notified that you left the group.” It is assumed that the feature will roll out to mobile as well, although it isn’t clear if this will happen at the same time.
