Marvel Studios has shared an official poster of the upcoming series, showing Baby Groot chilling out atop one of the headphones attached to Peter Quill’s iconic Walkman. Disney and Marvel haven’t revealed much about the series, only giving a short description that says “following Baby Groot’s glory days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars.”

It isn’t clear if this will be the first time he grew up, or the story arch we saw in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after being destroyed in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. It isn’t clear whether or not the Guardians will make an appearance in the series either. Most of the short series on Disney Plus is geared towards kids, so expect this to be the same type of show.
The shorts series are mostly focused on characters from other beloved movies or series that aren’t the main focus in those properties, including Dug Days, Olaf Presents, and Ice Age Scrat Tales. Disney Plus is quickly expanding its archives of original shows and movies across all its major IP, with the latest Marvel movie – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – expected to hit the service on June 22nd.
I Am Groot is set to debut just before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, which arrives on Disney Plus on August 17th. It’s the first original Guardians of the Galaxy spinoff so far, but isn’t Disney’s last — the live-action Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will stream exclusively on Disney Plus in December.
