This new LG TV can be wheeled around the house

We’re only weeks away from CES 2022, the first in-person tech show since the advent of the global pandemic, and as always there will be a lot of announcements of TVs. It usually includes the latest and greatest in OLED, Mini LED, MicroLED, and more. LG is giving us an early look at some of their CES 2022 products, with two unconventional TVs that are coming next year.

Firstly, and likely the standout, is the LG StanbyME. It is a 27-inch TV that can operate wirelessly on battery power and be wheeled around on its height-adjustable stand. The stand it is attached to can swivel, tilt, or be rotated to portrait orientation. The TV can also be detached from the stand altogether and be connected to a laptop or other HDMI ready device.

According to LG, the StanbyME can last for up to three hours on a charge. That means you’ll probably only use it to watch a couple of series episodes wherever you are busy at the time instead of sit down and relax to watch a Lord of the Rings film. Interestingly, this is likely to be an LCD panel, because LG has never made a 27-inch OLED TV display. No details were shared regarding its resolution or other usual high-end features like HDR.

LG also announced the Objet, a high-design OLED TV that’s meant to be leaned against a wall instead of mounted or put on a traditional stand. The fabric cover under the 65-inch screen can be raised or lowered with the remote. According to LG, it’s interchangeable and will come in three colors that are all the work of “Danish textile innovator, Kvadrat.”

As with some of its other high-end TVs, the Objet has different viewing modes like Full View, which is self-explanatory, and Line View, which shows widgets like the weather and music when part of the display is covered by the stylish fabric.
