We are a matter of weeks away from the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 range of smartphones, with the next Unpacked event happening on January 14th 2021. While we already knew what to expect from the design and features, the details around prices have only leaked this week.

According to reports, the European prices are slightly lower than they were for the Galaxy S21, presumably meaning the same for prices in other markets.
The base model 5G capable Galaxy S21 (with 128GB of storage) will cost €849, which is €50 less than the launch price of its older brother, the Galaxy S20. The Galaxy S21 Plus will cost €1,049 for the base model and the Galaxy S21 Ultra will start from €1,349. These are both also €50 cheaper than the equivalent models from the Galaxy S20 range.
Interestingly, some markets will also be getting a 4G only version of the Galaxy S21, which will make the device even cheaper. These markets will be where 5G infrastructure is in very early stages or non-existent, like Africa and South America. Europe and North America will not receive this cheaper version of the upcoming flagship.
There are also some contradicting reports on the naming conventions. While most believe the 2021 flagship Galaxy device will be called the S21, the 2022 flagship the S22, and so on, others seem to think it will make the same jump as in 2020. That is, the 2019 flagship device was called the S10 and we then jumped to the S20. Some believe the 2021 flagship will therefore be called the Galaxy S30.
We prefer the former, as its easier to know which device you are talking about. Why smartphone manufacturers haven’t followed the motoring industry (i.e. 2020 Mercedes C-Class and 2021 Mercedes C-Class) is beyond us.
