A large OLED TV may not be the solution for all, especially since they get really expensive for massive screens. The Premiere, a 4K laser projector from Samsung that is positioned as an alternative to its high-end TV’s, is now available.

It comes in two variants – the first is the $3,499 LSP7T which delivers a 120-inch projection, and the $6,499 LSP9T which goes up to 130-inches. These projectors are of the “ultra short throw” kind of projector – this means you get these impressively large projection sizes even when the unit is placed directly in front of your wall or screen.
The big price disparity between the two models isn’t just down to the difference in projection sizes. The LSP9T is brighter at 2,800 ANSI lumens, compared to 2,200 ANSI lumens for the cheaper model. Not only will it appear brighter to the eye, but the image will also be sharper and therefore clearer in a room with non-ideal lighting. The sound system is also better on the more expensive model.
The rest of the specs sheet is pretty much the same and will largely deliver the same experience. They both make use of Samsung’s proprietary Tizen operating system, the same that is used on their TV range. The Premiere 4K projectors set themselves apart from others by using laser technology instead of traditional light bulbs. It means they will last longer than traditional projectors.
A prohibitive factor in buying projectors for your viewing needs in the past has been the picture quality and the space needed in order to put the projector far enough away to be viewable. In theory, the Premiere 4K laser projector solves these problems.
