For months now we have heard murmurings of a cheaper version of Samsung’s flagship called the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. It would be a cheaper version of the original, delivering a similar design with slight cost cutting in key areas to deliver a more affordable package. Famous tipster @OnLeaks has now posted leaks of the upcoming device, which will be a 5G ready phone.

The new device will have a 6.4-inch display, the aforementioned design of the original Galaxy S20 with slightly larger bezels, and it will have a matte plastic back instead of the glass. Like we’ve seen from other devices in Samsung’s range, you will sacrifice some of their signature premium feel for improved affordability.
According to the leaks, the other cost cutting comes in the form of the cameras and memory. The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will still have the flagship processor of the original and the same 120Hz fast refresh rate display, but you will have to make do with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The camera array is also somewhat simplified, which will include a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom. It will include a larger 4,500mAh battery for improved battery life.
While we don’t know to which markets this device will be launched in yet, it is expected that the device will cost around $750, a large cut from the $1,000 original. It is meant to fill a big gap in the company’s price range, with the premium mid-range Galaxy A71 costing $600.
There may also be other size options available in for the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, with rumours pointing towards a 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch variant possibly launching alongside. In some markets the device may be called the Samsung Galaxy S20 Lite.
