It was only a couple of weeks ago that we learned OnePlus will return to its roots and release an affordable smartphone to rival much more expensive alternatives. With their latest OnePlus 8 range firmly occupying the flagship price range, faithful fans rejoiced at the news. Now the company has released its first teaser of the upcoming device, called the OnePlus Nord.
The company has released a teaser video on YouTube and Instagram, offering only glimpses of the device with further hints about what we can expect.
Sticking with the theme the name suggests (Nord means ‘north’ in various languages), the device has an icy colour, almost grey-blue.
In the video you can also see (albeit, if you look carefully) the rumoured dual selfie camera with at least three cameras in the vertical camera module at the back. It also shows someone taking a photo under the water, which probably means this budget friendly device will be waterproof. Furthermore, the part of the video where someone takes photo of fireworks most likely implies that there will be some sort of night mode available.
Interestingly, OnePlus decided to start taking reservations for the device via a pre-order of €20 since the beginning of the month. This despite us not knowing much about it – other than the chipset it will run, the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G processor.
When it comes to design of the device – there’s not much to go by here. It does look reminiscent of OnePlus devices of the past, but it isn’t clear what the dimensions of the display would be from the teaser. It will likely not be a cutting edge display – to cut down on costs – but hopefully it still has modern, appropriately-sized bezels.
As soon as we have more details about the exciting device we will share it. Would you be interested in a cheaper OnePlus device? Let us know in the comments below.
