We really miss Motorola in South Africa. It used to be one the leading smartphone brands in the country, and since its rebirth their local presence has been lacking. Now that they are becoming ever more successful globally, we hope to see them again here soon. A new exciting device from the company is the upcoming Moto G8, which has leaked ahead of its launch.
Motorola have been solely focusing on the mid-range market and this strategy is working. Their latest device is looking to the upper mid-range, with an improved camera experience. According to the leaks of the Moto G8, from a promotional video, we can expect three cameras including a 48MP primary camera. It will also have a small teardrop notch, which seems to be the standard in the segment of the market these days.
There aren’t any indications from the leaks as to when we can expect it to be released. That being said, the new Moto RAZR will be launched on November 13th and it is probable that they will reveal the G8 before pulling the sheets off the nostalgia machine that is the new RAZR.
We don’t have any specs for the upcoming device either, though we expect it to sit comfortable alongside the rest of the Moto G8 range, the Moto G8 Plus and Moto G8 Play.
We’re not sure what the other two lenses in the camera array will be, but most likely it will include a telephoto lens as well as a wide angle shooter. It is the preferred three camera setup at the moment and gives consumers the widest range of capabilities, having the right lens for the right occasion. Its one thing throwing more cameras at the problem, but it does need to perform at an acceptable level to make it an exciting product. With Motorola’s recent track record though, we are optimistic.
