Bill Gates announces he uses an Android phone, leaves us guessing as to which one

Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates has announced that he uses an Android phone in his day-to-day, and instead opts to use Microsoft’s mobile apps and services.

If we were publishing headlines that Apple CEO Tim Cook used an iPhone in his day-to-day, you can well imagine that the technology news machine might well stop in its tracks. Today, however, we’ve got the next best thing, as former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates has clarified that he uses an Android phone for his personal news.
Granted, the news isn’t so astounding when one considers that Microsoft has all but abandoned its mobile efforts in both hardware and software, and has instead committed its energies into building Windows 10, its Surface lineup, and into its HoloLens augmented reality endeavour.

Bill Gates confirmed in an interview with Fox News that he uses an Android phone in his day-to-day, and that he (unsurprisingly) leverages Microsoft’s array of apps and services aboard the device in question.
Gates stopped short of revealing what brand and make of device he uses, though there are, of course, several likely guesses. Samsung produces a Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition that arrives laden with the Redmond company’s mobile apps and services (giving us one likely indication), or perhaps Gates elects to use the newly christened Nokia 8 out of nostalgia for the days when the Finnish company ruled the Windows Mobile roost.
