YouTube flights YouTube TV, its first broadcasting service

YouTube has launched YouTube TV; a subscription offering powered by relationships with broadcast networks such as NBC, Fox, National Geographic and more.

YouTube has officially taken the wraps off its newest bid for domination of the entertainment industry – say a warm hello to YouTube TV, a new live TV service which has debuted in the United States.
Unlike YouTube Red (the premium service you probably don’t subscribe to) YouTube TV is the result of several carefully arranged partnerships with media companies which will distribute their content over the network.

YouTube has confirmed that its TV offering will launch in markets such as Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia, where it can offer full, live local broadcast feeds. The service will set families with six accounts back a fee of $35 USD per month.
Citing the diverse lineup available on the service, YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, Neal Mohan, stated that “We feel we’re in a great position to reinvent the way TV works. No other company in the world has more experience serving high-quality video over the internet, high-def streaming, apps that don’t crash and seamless integration with mobile and web.”
YouTube TV will boast news coverage from partners such as ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox (ahem), and will include content from channels such as Syfy, National Geographic, Disney, and more. Sports fans will further be appeased with ESPN, NBC SportsNet, FoxSports and more.
YouTube clarified that each account registered on the service will benefit from its own personal cloud-based DVR which will launch without storage limits and will further offer personalized recommendations on the fly.
Google has promised integration for smart home fanatics, as users lucky enough to own Google Home will be able to issue commands to the service by voice input.
